PERANAN UTAMA INSTITUSI MASJID DALAM PEMBENTUKAN PERIBADI MUKMIN
(THE MAIN ROLE OF THE MOSQUE INSTITUTION IN THE PERSONAL FORMATION OF BELIEVERS)

The mosque is an Islamic religious institution that has become a symbol of the unity of Muslims throughout the ages, especially through the roles and functions it plays for the benefit of the community. Today's mosque management has organized various initiatives in the form of welfare, facilities, donations, course workshops and so on that aim to bring the community closer and closer to the mosque. However, in celebrating these initiatives, the main functions and roles of the mosque cannot be left behind and ignored. This is because the main role can only and appropriately be carried out by the mosque institution, while the list of initiatives stated earlier is only a side contribution that has actually been entrusted to the relevant government agencies or statutory bodies. The objective of the study is to explain the main role of the mosque institution and its importance in the process of forming the personality of believers. This study is a qualitative study that collects data from traditional and contemporary documents regarding the mosque and its function in Islamic studies. Documentation data was collected from books, journal articles, seminar proceedings and the like so that the findings obtained are accurate and authoritative. The study findings list the tasks as a center for the study of Islamic knowledge and the purification of believers through the understanding of this knowledge, as a list of the main roles of the mosque. This role can be summarized through the concept of tahalli and tahalli. Its importance to the public is to provide religious understanding, cultivate practical practices, cultivate an attitude of istiqamah with the religious understanding that is embraced, and cultivate awareness of counter-subversiveness based on knowledge and religion. The main role of the mosque and its importance need to be strengthened so that the presence of the mosque in the community is highly appreciated and needed, thus successfully realizing the formation of members of society who have the personality of true believers.
